UV Windows
UV optical windows ultraviolet transmitting focusing in the (UV) ultraviolet spectrum of light transmission from 150nm to 400nm.
UV windows are fabricated in a range of optical and crystal materials. Selection of ultraviolet windows depends on a variety of factors as each material reacts differently and each material is more suited to particular regions of the ultraviolet spectrum.
UV Fused Silica Optical Windows
Fused Silica polished windows have high transmission from deep UV @180nm to 2000nm. UV Fused Silica has excellent thermal properties with some grade fluorescence free and deep UV applications using Krf (248mn) and Arf (193mn) excimer lasers. Chemically inert with excellent resistance to most chemicals, Fused Silica windows are custom made to order and standard stock sizes of circular windows, plates, discs, slides and cover slips.
UV Optical Glass Windows
There are grades of UV optical glasses that transmit at the higher end of the UV close to 400nm. Schott 8337b optical glass has 80% transmission @220nm and has good transmission from 205nm into the visible region widely used in sealing for lamp manufacturers and UV systems. These are < ahref="custom.html">custom made and available in a standard stock size.
UV Filters
UV transmitting filter glass windows include filter glasses made by Schott and Hoya. These glass filters include UV band pass filters Schott UG1, UG5, UG11, MUG11, BG24A. Schott Bandpass filters BG1, BG3, BG12, BG37, BG39, BG40, BG18 and BG38. Schott long pass UV filters WG225, WG280, WG295, WG305, WG335, WG345 and WG360. Although these are classed as optical filters, they are widely identified as UV optical windows.
All UV windows listed above are custom made to order and made to a standard stock range.
Other UV optical and crystal windows for ultraviolet transmission include UV grade calcium fluoride (Caf2), Zinc Selenide (Znse), Lithium fluoride (Lif) and magnesium fluoride (Magf2).
