Technical Sheet Glasses

Technical glass materials and optical sheet glass materials are the simplest form of optical window material useful for many applications when a precision mechanically optically polished surface is not required. Although some of these sheet glass materials are also widely used in precision optics for optically polished windows and components.

Technical Sheet Glass Material Range

Schott Desag B270

B270 super white clear transparent crown a drawing process with fine polished surfaces. Thickness range from 0.90mm thick to 20mm thick with high transmission in the UV from 350nm through the visible radiation into the IR transmission range.

Schott Borofloat

Borosilicate Borofloat a low thermal/expansion surface quality produced by float process. Excellent thermal and chemical properties. The highest permissible working temperature is 500ºc. Thickness range from 1.10mm to 21mm.

Schott D263T Borosilicate Glass

D263T display Borosilicate glass is a special down drawn glass with fine polished surfaces. It is produced by melting very pure raw materials and so is very resistant to chemical attack. It has high luminous transmittance and excellent flatness. Thickness range 0.03mm to 1.10mm thick.

AF45 Alkali free Glass

Schott AF45 is a modified borosilicate glass which is alkali free with a high content of BaO and AL203. It has excellent thermal resistance and low coefficient of thermal expansion. Extensively used in Opto-electronics and sensor equipment, Schott AF45 is available in 0.05mm thick up to 1.10mm thick.

Float Glass (Soda-lime)

Float glass produced using the float process giving a high quality transparent finish can be heat strengthened and toughened. High co-efficient of expansion. Float glass available in 0.50mm to 25mm thick.

Schott Robax Glass Ceramic

Robax glass ceramic is highly transparent glass ceramic material with a minimal amount of coloration, very low thermal expansion and good mechanical resistance. Surface slightly patterned. Robax is available in 3mm, 4mm and 5mm thick.

Vycor Quartz

Vycor corning 7913 material is used in high temperature applications often in sight glasses due to its high thermal shock resistance and performance. Vycor is generally three times more resistance to abrasion than optical glass with higher expansion. Vycor quartz thickness ranges from 2mm to 12mm thick with 4mm a general stocked thickness.

White Flashed Opal

Flashed opal glass is a borosilicate based glass with a layer of opal 0.25mm to 8.0mm thick on one surface. Opal glass is used to diffuse light and achieve near lamberfian source. White flashed opal glass has a thickness of 2.70-3.30mm thick.

ITO Coated Glass

ITO coated glass is a transparent conducting coating on aluminosilicate, borosilicate and sodalime sheet float glass. Ranges from 120 to 8 ohms per cm2, 0.7mm or 1.10mm thick glasses. The glass substrates are polished or unpolished in standard sheet s14”x14” and 14”x16”.

Front Surface Mirrors

Front surface mirrors have an aluminium coating and a protected Si02 overcoat reflecting 94% @ 550nm. 1.10mm thick. There are a range of standard thickness’ available. Front surface mirrors have the advantage over back surface mirrors as the image is being reflected from the surface of the mirror not passing through the glasses with back surface mirrors.

Lead Glass X-ray Protection Glass (RWB46)

Lead glass x-ray protection glass for medical, industrial and scientific application s is produced in standard thickness’ from 5mm to 13mm thick in a transparent finish. RWB46 lead glass shields instruments and operators from harmful x-rays.

Further glass will be added in the future so if you do not see a glass suitable please send your details of glass type required.
