Optical Polishing
The optical polishing of surfaces using a double sided planetary system machine is the most used process for standard polishing of optical windows. The planetary polishing system is by a three way drive process producing a high quality polish, good flatness and excellent parallelism. This system can run as a high speed or low speed optical polish.

Single-sided Polishing
Single sided polishing to a laser finish with temperature controlled polishing beds and environmentally controlled rooms achieves the best optical finish for a high precision polished flats up to 150mm diameter to a lambda/10 surface finish.
Edge Polishing
Edge polishing the edge of the optical windows either discs, squares, rectangles and shapes can be polished for glass sealing, fusing, distressing for pressure windows, lasers, light transfer and transmission. The polished edge is achieved by diamond or a felt process with a cerium oxide-polishing compound polishing diameters up to 160mm diameter.
Brush Polishing
Brush polishing mainly applies to harder materials including sapphire where the edge is glazed polished and the sharp edges smoothed.
Additional surface polishing information can be found on optical substrates page detailing grades of optical polished surfaces for optical windows.
