Optical Glass Windows
Optical glass windows, plates and discs are fabricated in a broad range of optical glasses having many applications and uses for scientific, medical, optical and industrial companies
Optical glass windows are used for the visible spectrum allowing visible transmission transmitting visible light through the window. This is not their only purpose as they have a wide range of refractive indexes and optical properties. They act as a protection window protecting sensitive and fragile equipment. The refractive index of optical glass which ranges from 1.42nd to 1.85nd are used for test pieces and monitor windows in thin film coatings. See stock page for range of standard types and sizes.
Optical glass materials are made by major glass manufacturers from around the world including Schott Glass, Pilkington Special Glass and Ohara Optical Glass. See materials page for details. These manufacturers draw and melt the glass into a raw from with additional processes including fine annealing and mouldings.
Optical Glass manufacturers produce a large inventory of optical glass which includes doped glass, high index glass, crown glass, sealing glass, flint glass, radiation resistance glass and non browning optical glass, which are all used in optical window manufacturing.
Polished optical glass windows are made to standard and precision finishes in a wide size and product range. For optical glass window processing see custom page.
