Infrared fused quartz and substrates are Plano polished optical windows, discs, plates fabricated from a high purity natural fused quartz electrically fused with useful transmission from 260mm to above 3500mm. IR quartz is used for its high infrared transmission and extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion. Infrared quartz has outstanding high temperature resistance and excellent chemical resistance. There are several grades of IR fused quartz and all have low (oh) water content that is as low as 8ppm or less.

IR quartz is suitable for hostile environments for high temperature thermal shock loads and pressure loads. Used for illumination and inspections windows, cover plates and windows for pressurised cabins, IR quartz is also used in microwave and gas sensor industries.
