Glass discs and plates is a general terminology for circular, square or rectangular glass windows made from a range of transparent sheet glasses and polished optical glasses. These are typically used for science and industry in instrumentation in the pharmaceutical, scientific, oil, gas and chemical industries. They also act as a good general utility window for laboratory use and widely used by glass blowers for sealing of vessel bottoms.

Glass material provides excellent protection from hostile environments acting as a barrier for protecting measuring and sensing equipment. Glass discs for industrial use have a longer life span than plastic but still are economically produced as a low cost disposable item when they become damaged.
