Borosilicate Windows

Borosilicate optical windows, low expansive glass, discs and plates, are very resistant to water, acid and saline solutions as well as to chlorine, bromime, iodine and organic substances. Borosilicate windows even over fairly lengthy periods and temperatures above 100°C Borosilicate it is better than most metals and other materials in terms of chemical resistance. See materials data for Borosilicate windows material information.

Although not classed as an optical material it is widely supplied as sheet glass quality in various thickness. For more demanding applications borosilicate is processed for optical and precision engineering applications. It has excellent thermal properties and it is a very useful as a substrate for optical flats

Borosilicate optical windows are manufactured from Schott® – Borofloat and Corning® - Pyrex materials.

For processing of optical Borosilicate windows see Custom page or for stock Borosilicate windows see stock page.

Borosilicate optical windows are widely used in a range of applications and products, typical examples include: substrates, pressure windows, sight glasses, viewports, protecting window and furnace windows.
